I have a Tascam M-1508 mixer with 4 output buses (there are 8 tracks, each with a single direct out which is RCA, so track one has direct out=1/R and track 2 has direct out=2/L, so these 2 tracks make a stero pair). I would like to record more than 4 tracks at a time without buying further equipment. A friend suggested using the insert (balanced 1/4") as the direct out for recording. Each track has it's own insert of course. Can this be done? Is it advisable?
