96k...silence

Caotico

for all the right reasons
I'm running cubase sx3 on a pc with a motu 828mkII. I usually record in 48k/24bit, but my brother recorded a song in 96k using a PC and the Motu some time ago. Over the Holidays, we added drums to it using cubase on an iMac. I had to reset the vst connections (inputs and outputs), but other than that, everything went fine. When I brought the hard drive etc back and played it on my home PC, all of the songs work fine, except for the one recorded at 96k (he recorded it at 16bit for some reason). Anyway, when I load that song, the sample rate on the motu switches to 96k with a slight pop sound. When I play the song back, the cursor moves, but I get no sound at all, and not lights moving in the meters. What's weird is that if I set up the project to 48k (without converting the songs, because I prefer not to convert them), it plays back, although slow because of the different sample rate. Why the silence at 96k? Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
