85-16 in recent real life

I only recently became aware of Amy Winehouse's sessions and Daptone records. Little late on that huh?

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that the main tape machine is an 85-16... the first dark grey model like my first one was. For all I know, this may even be my original machine, even though those guys are on the other coast.

I'm not really into the sound of the Daptone room, but here are some cool youtube clips where you can see the machine in use. There are probably lots more clips out there too-

Their mix results are really due to that room imo. My own mixes from last century on my two 85-16s are way different since I worked in dead rooms. This though, is the first time, I've really heard how others approach their machine.

Little things like this often get me jazzed to fire up the 8516-b more often.
