Ok, I recently bought an fd-8, which I thought could record 8 tracks at a time, but recently found out that it only records 2 at a time, but 8 using the adat optical i/o. This is what I don't understand. What would I need to be able to record 8 tracks at once on the fd-8? Any help is appreciated.

Fostex make an 8 channel A/D converter, the VC-8 which will allow additional recording tracks on their larger rack-mount units. Check it out, maybe and I repeat maybe it will do what you want........good luck.

you can also buy a digital mixer with an ADAT out that would work. You could buy a more expensive 4 channel one and use the other 2 ins on the FD-8 for 6 total simultaneous tracks. Fostex makes one that is in the $200 range I think
