8 track problem

Hi.
I bought a second-hand Yamaha MT8-X recently. Worked fine for a few weeks, but I've noticed that when I play back recordings, the sound is kinda wobbly/flanged like the tape motor has a problem or something. Also, sometimes when I hit rewind, the tape can't rewind (cue upset machine noise) unless I move the tape slightly. I'm guessing there may be a problem with the motor, but could it be anything else? Heads?

Thanks.

This type of problem is usually due to belts and internal rubber parts deteriorating.

Which is pretty common, as a recorder ages.

It's probably not the motor, but a rubber parts refurb will require a fair amount of disassembly to accomplish. It's doable, and not brain surgery, but YMMV. Haha.
