So this topic has been beaten to death, but I am still left wondering which 8 channel preamp is the best for me.
I have basically narrowed it down to the M-Audio Octane vs. the PreSonus Digimax FS. They are both the same price, very similar features.
I think I am only leaning toward the Digimax because it is only 1 rack space, however, the Octane has the I/Os on the back. I probably won't the M-S Matrix on the Octane or the inserts on the Digimax. I need 8 decent preamps with analog direct outs (to run to my M-Audio Delta 1010), phantom power, and ADAT for future setups.
I don't think the Octane is any more compatible with my 1010 than the Digimax. It seems at this point the only thing influencing my decision is the layout of the damn thing.
Anyone willing to offer some advice? Or maybe A/B the two? Anything to help sway my decision would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Scott
