Can someone tell me the difference between OC 703 (Ive held this stuff in my hand- so I know what it is) and "rock wool" and "mineral wool". Is all of this stuff the same thing? Are they completely different materials with essentially the same usefull accustical proerties? Is any superior? Is this stuff all totally different?

Ive got the frames for the rear absorber and the slat resonators built and hung on the wall. I bought fabric- now i need something to put inside em ;) . I was reading John's site and someone posted a local supplier of mineral wool (and it was CHEAP) I asked there but Im askin here too.

Thanks up front

Thanks C7. So, is 703 a mineral wool product? If not is mineral wool a typical substitute for the 703?

Thanks again

703 is spun fiberglass fibers pressed into batts and cut to size.

Same as Knauf Rigid Fiberglass Soundboard.

"mineral wool" or "rock wool" (interchangeable names) are the same sort of thing except instead of using glass fibers they use rock and mineral fibers. It typically comes in a greenish-grey colour and is a bit softer than fiberglass panels.
