388 tracking problem

my 388 has been working wonderfully...but all of a sudden i got a problem tracking into tracks 1 and 5. When record enabled (and while recording) the signal shows very hot...yet when i listen back it is barely there and doesnt even move the needle.
is there anything i can do?
 
This is a common problem that I've dealt with a couple times. Try reseating the two play/rec cards nearest the rear panel of the machine. You'll only have to remove the six phillips bolts to get to the cards. The rear left card is assigned to channels one and three. The rear right card is assigned to five and seven. If that doesn't work they may have to be resoldered at the joints.
