16/24-bit recording in Cakewalk/Sound Forge

Hi,

I want to know if I can record at 24-bit in SF or Cakewalk with my SB Live... I only seem to be able to do it at 16-bit, and the sound quality is not that good.

Is it because the A/D/A conversor in the board is cheap? If I plugged a Digitech with 24-bit S/PDIF output, would the sound be improved?

i don't think the SBLive handles 24bit - cakewalk and soundforge probably do but your card wont.
