Hi.

I just uploaded 10 songs on myspace (free download)
http://www.myspace.com/everyanimalsmilesback

The songs are basically from three different projects.

1) Indie folk-pop solo project.
Somewhat reminiscent of Sparklehorse, Iron & Wine, and the Microphones.

2) the lesser light. Chamber-folk / post-folk / slow-core
Leonard Cohen (early), Nick Cave & the bad seeds, and Migala

3) Blund. Classical / post-folk
Mick Turner, Joe Henry, and Loren MazzaCane Connors.

"For Thom Yorke" and "Song for Dalai Lama" will have string parts added later.

Wish you a splendid evening!

Did you post them for critique? Or is this an announcement?

What does the label's rep [ your contact guy] think of them? What did the 'in-house engineer' at the label say? Were you guided by industry fat cats to achieve this product??

Which label? Do they have a website?? Are you getting an advance? Or or you giving them one? I'm interested in their business-model.

Hi Jeff.

I was interested in getting some critique or comments.

The label is Racing Junior (racingjunior.com) One of the biggest
norwegian indie labels. Feedback from the rep was in fact very
positive.
One of the electronic artists on the label helped eq'ing
and mixing some of the songs a little. He found the fidelity a little
low at times. The label was not involved in shaping the songs.
I haven't gotten an advance, neither will i pay them. Though i
paid the electronic artist a little. My contact and i mostly have
discussed music and art; i know next to nothing about their
business model.

Best wishes, Joachim

Congratulations!

Hope you work out a good deal and sell a lot of records.

I really can't offer a critique...music so foreign to me, I need more time to listen, digest, and understand.

It's good that the label has taken intrest. Maybe not banking on this record....but the next. They hear something they like. And they're willing to grab this, of develop you into a refined artist. That's about the best critique to get....except when they show you the money! That's way better.

Thank you very much, Jeff. :)

Money and record sales isn't a goal, though it'd be nice to
make a non-profit release of an ep (with songs from a single
project) and donate the money to charity.

Have a wonderful weekend!
