1 out of 8 tracks not working

Out of the blue the first track on my 8 track just stopped working.
I haven't done too much poking around to find the problem yet.
Do any of you guys have any suggestions to what it might be?

Could be a number of things. Is it recieving a signal when in input monitor mode?

Sadly, No it's not

Start by checking all connections.
Work the track switches a bit
Reseat the card.

If nothing...switch the card with another track, if the problem follows the card....well, you know what that means.

UPDATE:

so after fiddling around, unplugging and replugging cables, the same thing that happening to my 1st track happened to my 2nd track.
I knew something was wrong so I unplugged everything, all ins and outs.
Then I RWD the tape, played in back, and voila!
Everything worked fine.
Then when I replugged the cables, it didn't work.
So I plugged in a different cable and it worked like a dream!

All and All, something a bad cable is shorting out something.
I'll have to spend an afternoon fixing them
