tube preamp kit...

This place has a stereo tube preamp kit for a pretty reasonable price. It's a hi-fi line preamp, not a mic preamp, but I wonder if it could be modded to be one without too much trouble, or if it could be used in series after, e.g. a mackie preamp to add...

Pro Question: Sjoko, Shailat, Skippy, Track Rat, any others... - re: guitar depth

No one mentioned 11 tracks of whack... Now that's a great album... The solos on Lucky Henry rival even anything on any Steely Dan track by Carlton et. al.. What a hip, modern and sophisticated sound. 2 against nature is far weaker (my op. of course).

    Slam Me...

Gone... I liked the mix a lot, it really jumps out of the speakers. I can hear every instrument, it's uncluttered. The only criticism I have is perhaps the guitar tone could have a bit more body (maybe that would be bass, I'm not sure exactly what it needs, I suspect you are a LOT better at...

Thanks Rusty... It looks like PC drummer (correct me if I'm wrong) only runs on a billy box, and I have a mac here. I have tried a shareware program called virtual drummer on the mac, which can output midi files, but it has bugs galore when dealing with odd meters, enough to make it useless for...

    My First Posting!!!

interesting... I agree with drstawl, the drumming sometimes is 'over the bar', especially for a long time before it comes back to the quiet part at the end. I personally love that sort of thing, but would recommend, as he did, that you come back sooner so as not to lose the listener. I like the...

    Mix and sound thoughts

Pretty cool I personally liked the sampling, I thought it worked with the song. The beginning is pretty strong. The overall sound and mix was also good, inasmuch as I can judge with my not too hifi setup here. How did you do the drums? Some of the synth patches i wasn't that wild about: that...

    Constructive criticism requested... thanks!

Thx for the comments guys... I have heard people say that quicktime musical instruments are the worst drums in the world, but I think it's my repetitive (dare I say lazy) programming of them that's the main problem. I'm thinking of getting the native instruments battery product (works real well...

    Constructive criticism requested... thanks!

Thanks Rusty... I appreciate the comments. Yeah the 'drum machine' is just quicktime musical instruments, and my programming is pretty (utterly, really) repetitive... Maybe when I loop I should do some editing on the loops to make them less mechanical. Thanks!

If you've got a minute (or 3) could you give a listen to my ditty here: http://home.pacbell.net/janis_t/spd.mp3 I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for tightening up the mix, song arrangement, recording technique (I have a little better equipment since this was done)... Thanks!

Has anyone done the mxl2001 tapop mod?

imacgreg, just curious If you knew what was included in the full kit. It seems a bit expensive for the stuff that's listed in the picture, unless he's throwing in the box and connecters, etc... Thanks!

Has anyone done the mxl2001 tapop mod?

Sorry if this has been discussed. I searched this group and came up with nothing... The modification article is in sept/oct tapeop and is written by David Royer. It replaces the electronics with a tube amp/power supply. Curious if anyone has done this and what the results were.

    Converter naming competition

my first post! I think keeping with their naming convention: LUCID ADA2000 or LUCID AD2000 if they want to break from that, how about: LUCID Response LUCID Aether LUCID Fidelis
