doesn't capo-ing the bass make it go out of tune slightly? I may be completely wrong about this but I'm sure I've heard someone bang on about how the extra pressure a capo needs to apply onto the fretboard of a bass will lift the tunings of all the strings...because its pushing harder onto them...
um...its called "phantom" power for a reason. It cancels itself out if the mic isn't looking for it. No, it won't have any effect on a dynanmic mic that doesn't need phantom power. Otherwise they would just call it "power" :p
I'm guessing cubase :p
I think if you open it in the part editor and select the whole wave it tells you how much you have selected in seconds on the bottom left hand corner
hahaha :laughings: I've been trying to teach our drummer the guitar for nearly two years with no joy...there's a reason that when choosing an instrument some people just go for "the one you hit"...
I'm sure you have more perserverance than him though so you could try www.cyberfret.com
If its...
This is incorrect a guitar's output is much closer to mic level than line level so any guitar stompbox will work reasonably well. Will only work with dynamic mics though so stick with the SM58 and you're away.
The best "distortion" sound for vocals is achieved (imho) by getting a very...
Its a top notch spec, but then in 4 years it wont be so its not so much overkill as planning ahead ;)
And Jeff'as right, all the money and time you spend will be worthless if your only hard drive packs in, get two, or an external one that you can hide away incase you're studio gets robbed...
Hi, I'm getting a new hard drive for my new pc. 1TB methinks. But for a little extra I could buy two 500GB drives and link them into a RAID 0 array. I've heard this can speed up access times? Obviously when recording you're hammering the disks so is this a good idea? Does anyone on here use...
I do half and half, put all the guitars to a bus and high pass them, put all the vocals to a buss and high pass them, then high pass the drum overheads :)
Ive not really had many triggering problems with drumagog, but in gerenal principle there's probably a way you can boost the drum's principle frequency before the triggering, that might help you?
yeah, reverb is cool on acoutic guitars especially. I suppose when you hear an acoustic you imagine an unshaven man with a cigar sat on a stage in an empty bar - so a nice reverb kind of helps to re-create that image in my opinion.
With this sort of thing though I've found it really helps to...
I think the key answer is "Reverb where reverb is necessary"
Its such a versatile effect you can get really creative with it, and what one person may like another may hate. Personally I love filling the snare out with a huge gated reverb, but then I'm the kind of person that pays to see Motley...
if you're writing it in the key editor, you can adjust the velocity of the MIDI notes. I think there's a pane at the bottom, or select a few and go to MIDI -> Velocity... to subtract an amount from their velocities.
This will save you having to go through automation and will give you more...
I still use my superlux drum mics from time to time, they're pretty versatile and they come with a frequency response chart which is handy.
I have a CMH8A too somewhere but it doesn't get much use, I seem to remember it being dead cheap tho so yeah, if you're on a tight budget I second this...
yep, I use Neutrik connectors and the highest quality cable I can get.
Advantages of making you own...make the cables just long enough for your room so you dont have loads fo cbale curled around the floor adding noise and tripping you up, you can make a cable with basically any connectors you...
over-produced music will allways dominate the pop charts, even through this whole Strokes lofi phenomenon, the charts (or at least our UK ones anyway) have still kept a good slab of Phil Spector-esque wash. Its not going to go away miroslav sorry.
The LoFi trend as we know it now will most...
Firstly the whole "Lo-Fi" thing is relative isn't it? I mean the strokes album was labelled as "Lo-Fi" by pretty much everyone but its a lot better sound quality than, say, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club by the beatles right? and when Sgt Pepper came out it was considered to be about the most...
yep, the way I see it - there's "airy" treble, high-mid, low mid, bass and sub-bass. The kick is the only sub-bass instrument in a rock band so any sub-bass frequencies in anything else are just getting in the way - cut them. The bass guitar has more than enough bass frequencies, plus unless...
