Keep in mind also...
...that you can raise the level of the recording on the Masterlink AFTER you record it. I do this all the time.
There is a digital readout on the top right section of the display where you can move your cursor during playback and increase the level in whatever...
The Boss DR-770
is completely programmable in real time or step time, whatever. Just read the manual, it's not hard to create individual patches, then compile them into a song.
All my tunes were done with the DR-770, but I spend alot of time programming to get the drums to sound natural...
Not to be contentious, but...
...Django pales in comparison to the true genius of jazz guitar from that (or any) era -- Charlie Christian. His playing is way beyond all the zippity-doo-dah ramblings of Django.
I would urge anyone to search out some of Christian's playing and hear what the...
Wow
That is pretty cool.
The question is though, HOW do you get the update CD? When I first got my machine in March, I called Alesis about five times -- they never answered or called me back so I took to leaving my name and address along with a request for the update on their voicemail...
Thanks, Bruce
Yeah, I guess it is as simple as that. I must have developed some mental block about this -- that a CD copy won't be the same as a rendered file on the hard disk, but it's no doubt the same thing.
I think the root of the confusion starts when I move tracks from one playlist to...
Unfortunately, Brian's hands, heart and soul are not available at your local retailer.
He could play a Sears guitar through a pignose amp and still sound like himself.
The equipment is not going to give you his sound. You would do better by working for a year straight just on your left hand...
Hey drstawl --
Thanks for listening.
That's cool that you like the darker harmonies like I do. I keep trying to push the envelope in that way while still maintaining a foothold, if you know what I mean. Most of the influence in this comes from Herbie Hancock.
I'm trying to think what Van...

Nice to hear from you again! As always, thanks for listening.
Yeah, the drum breaks are many, that's for sure, but with this technique of recording the patches that have the built-in bass lines, I didn't want each section to go on any longer than it did. So, I opted for the short...
Wow Buck62, you made my day!
Thanks for your great comments, I really appreciate it.
Actually, I recorded the guitar direct using a POD 2.0 mixed together with a SansAmp PSA-1. I used the onboard plate reverb setting on my Akai DPS16 digital recorder.
I'm not really wild about the reverb...
I have recorded a funk version of a jazz improvisation tune that I had done before. This one is called 'After Words.' Click on my link below.
Have a listen and let me know what you think.
Thanks,

How about both?
I split my guitar signal and go into both a SansAmp PSA-1 and a POD 2.0 then blend the signals. Each seems to fill in the tonal gaps of the other.
Still not as good as a great amp miked with a great condensor and good mic pre, but my wife and neighbors swear by it!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to listen and for the positive comments.
Yeah, spontaneity has it's rewards, although many times I just end up with a bunch of nothing.
The 'warts' I was referring to are the momentary lapses of concentration that make for musical glitches -- always...
What a relief that you are back!
I knew you were traveling and I was hoping that you had returned before all this senseless horror unfolded. Looks like you just made it in time, thank heaven.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my tunes. I definitely agree with your comments, particular...

Thanks for listening and for your comments!

Thanks to you too, but which tune are you referring to with your comments? If you mean the jazz tune, After Burn, you're right I didn't use any limiting like I usually do (on my Masterlink), and the sound wasn't as big and...
There are two new tunes on the link at the bottom.
The first tune, Prima Zaleskus, is another one of my funk instrumentals, written and recorded in the style of some of my other tunes.
The second, After Burn, is a jazz tune that was recorded as a whim. I felt like doing something spontaneous...
Gonna get a Les Paul?
Think again -- the Hamer Archtop Studio guitar like the one referenced below on eBay is better and less expensive -- you will not regret it. If you have any doubts as to the quality, go to worldclassguitars.com and click on Hamer Shop Tour to check out Ed Roman's visit...
