    Broken hardshell case latches

OK. Update-- Just got off the phone with a 'band' music store. They can do it, and they have the parts. And, best of all, they're not even two blocks away!! (I can walk it over there.) As far as the hardware stores went, I probably didn't search quite right (didn't try 'cargo latches'; I...

    Broken hardshell case latches

Thanks for the replies. I'm working on it, but still no luck. OSH doesn't carry latches (at least not on their website), Home Depot doesn't, Michael's doesn't, guitar center doesn't, Our local guitar workshop doesn't, the local shoe & luggage repair store doesn't (at least he'll do the work if...

    Broken hardshell case latches

Can these be replaced or repaired? From what I've learned so far, it looks like they can't. I'd sure hate to throw away a cool, old case that's otherwise in good condition, but with two broken latches it looks like I have little choice. Does anyone know of any solution to this?

    Les Paul, dead at 94

I just heard at lunch time today. Speechless. Great pic of LP in the previous post.

Do you use a pick to play bass?

I use both methods. About 50/50.

How to make bass guitar growl?

Huge Who fan here. I think it is just a loud tube amp and an aggressive style of playing. Also, I seem to remember Entwistle once saying that he dimes out the treble on whatever amp he's using. Not sure but they may have been using Sunn, Hi-Watt (did they even make bass-amps?) or maybe Marshall.

    Simon Says (original)

Just wanted to say that this was most excellent. Very enjoyable. I have no suggestions for improvement. Well done!

    The Perfect 10

I knew someone with a 10-string a long time ago. I thought his had the doubles on the E-A-D-G strings, leaving the high B and E as singles. When I played with him, he just had it strung up as a normal 6. Don't know if it's the same guit or not, but I think it may have been a BC Rich.

    Curse of a Blessing

Thanks for listening. I think I know why it may be a little too quiet-- There was a very loud peak in the song, a good 3 or 4 dbs louder than the next highest peak. We turned down that peak a little, but if we turn it down any more it may become noticeable in the mix. We may have to play...

    My Best Tune so far

Man oh man. That is really something, Naka. I have no idea how the hell you put all of this together, but thank you VERY much for doing it. I'm happy that someone, anyone, is doing anything like this anymore, and that I got to hear it. Too good for commercial radio. I hear old Floyd, like...

    Hi. It's me again.

I listened to "If I could be like Andy" Good song. guitars and bass sound just fine. tasteful keyboard use. vox are very good--enough complexity to be interesting. lots of harmonies and counter-melodies. I like the Brian May-like lead guitar bits, too. The song was maybe a bit on the long...

    Psychedelic proggy thing....

Cool, weird song, queepy. Nice job! I think the vocal 'sound' fits the vocal 'style'--if that makes any sense. It seems like both the kick and the bass could use more presence/attack. But, I was listening on headphones.

china cat sunflower (another rough-around-the-edges cover)

I mentioned Europe '72 to distinguish from the 60's studio version--which is too fast, and flat sounding. Also, yeah, I wouldn't really call it 'mistakes' either. Just very, very loose and sloppy. Either way, those guys have written many fantastic songs over the years. I love Estimated...

china cat sunflower (another rough-around-the-edges cover)

Very cool! Nice version. A lot like the original (Europe '72, that is) Vox aren't that bad. I guess it would be a bit better if it was an octave higher though. I noticed that the 'Bob' guitar part is a little different. He puts a different ending on it every other time (one goes up; the...

    Rock / Alternative

Cool. I like the song, the arrangement, and the vox. The overall mix sounds a bit too 'hot'. I can't tell if it's in the mixing stage, or the mastering ( or just my headphones!). I had to turn the volume down a little as I listened because there was too much distortion muddying up the mix...

    SEWER/NIGHTOUT w Vision

Very cool! Wow! A video!!! The song is great. What an extra treat to have some visuals to go along with it. (In a way, it made it harder to listen to the mix--I guess I can only take in a limited amount of artistic information at once!!) Listening again, without watching, I think I could...

    A Sinister Dessert (Quivering Mass.....)

Oh yeah, the synth stuff is fine. They have a way of dominating a mix; in my experience, you have to be extremely careful with them. A little goes a long way. Again, nice sounding mix.

    A Sinister Dessert (Quivering Mass.....)

Very fun. Nice job. I listened to both mixes one after the other--the new one is a little better, but I like the tone of the bass in the first mix, and the volume of the bass in the second mix. I wonder, did you boost some low frequencies on the bass for the second mix? Or was it the whole...

a very dense Queen style track.

I think this is a good place for a particular observation of mine. This recording is a textbook example of why talent, perseverance, and hard work are, in the long run, really more important than the gear used. (This guy's only got 1 sm57 for god's sake!) I have heard on this bbs better...

    Well . . . another Beatles cover . . . why not? "Hey Bulldog"

Cool. One of my favourite Beatle tunes. Very nice singing voice. Some of the drums (I think the toms?) sound sort of disconnected to the rest of the song. Not that they're played wrong, they just stick out strangely in the mix. I agree that some of the synth sounds at the end are a little...
