I just picked up an old RCA Varacoustic mic on e-bay. I've had it for 2 days and think it's about the best $300 I've ever spent on a mic.
Everything I've tried before sounds like a telephone after using the RCA.
My question is when recording the RCA I get slight pop's in the sound every now and...
M-Audio updated the FireWire interface driver to a 2.0. Those of you with M-FW gear may want to check it out.
I d/l'ed and installed and it seemed to help with some of the "Rice Crispy" issues with things running in the background.

In the post about the MXL 2001, someone mentioned a mod for the MXL 2003 that involved changing a few caps inside. Does anyone have the info or schematics for this. It would be cool to try on my 2003.

Has anybody tried out the M-Audio NOVA Mic. Its a LD Condenser and they claim the entire production is within +/-1db making matched pairs out of any two you buy. At $99 a pop w/shockmount seems like they might make a decent budget XY pair.
