How to place outboard gear in path

I'm considering these Sound Skulptor DIY 500 series. They get good reviews. For the same price as one pre-built, you could acquire several and assemble you own. After the MP566 pre, the Tape simulator looks cool, or comp, etc. whatever. If tracking with several units, you would connect mic...

    VST plugins vs outboard gear

Does outboard gear have an edge over vst plugins? I have Waves vst plugins loaded but haven't reached the stage of using them yet. I also have a lunch box with two preamps (all that I need for tracking) leaving four empty slots. It's tantalizing to want to put some more toys in there.:p...

Hi all, after doing a little preliminary recording of acoustic guitar I decided I should probably have at least one SD condenser mic in my locker. I have so far: rode ntk and EV re320 (and of course an sm57). My Pre is a Great River. Since these are cardioid mics I should probably include an...

My E-license usb plug is no longer lighting up and I'm unable to open up Cubase (6) without being prompted to activate my license code all over again. Perhaps it got fried when plugging it in AFTER pc was powered up as when doing so the gfc outlet tripped. I dont even know the code at this...
