Hay guys, So I'm trying to setup my compressor with my mixer but since it doesn't have inserts i'm not sure what is my best option. 1) plug it into the 3-4 Alt outputs? but then how do i sidechain? 2) plug into a send-return aux bus? but since i have only 2 send/returns kind of want to keep...

Thanks Dave, you are absolutely correct about my lack of understanding around gain staging/digital levels, and for me it certainly doesn't stop there wrg to making and recording music. I'll fiddle about w some routing I think maybe my best bet will be to run the mixer into the 2x front line...

nevermind i found out what i was doing wrong.. you need to change the 3/4 inputs in ableton to 'off' rather than 'in'.
