i currently run a ART voice channel tube mic pree/Compressor. WHAT IS THE BEST SETTINGS FOR COMPRESSORS... i need to learn how to set it

what would be a good software to record vocals on? or can i do that right on FL studios or protools or should i still havea seperate software just for vocals?

Im looking at the sm7b for doing hooks and for the singing. It is a dynamic but my friend said to use a condenser for spitting verse but a dynamic for sining chourse???? Please send som feed back.. And also on a condenser mic what is a " pattern select switch" for what does it do to the sound...
