Hey fellas, haven't been here in quite some time. I was hoping to get some mix advice on this track. It's mainly for demo purposes but I would like to get it sounding as good as I can. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Started out on a Peavey Telecaster copy (Reactor maybe?) into a terible 80's peavey Musician solid state head with a 2x12 cab. I am currently playing a 79 Les Paul Custom into a Engl E 650. Upgraded Slightly :)
Exactly! and if you really can't make two passes that are close enough to not tip off the listener then that's where Editing and Quantizing becomes your friend. Or as a last resort there is always that thing called practice :0
I convinced my dad to buy me one of the originals when they were first released. I hadn't been playing guitar long and I was a huge Nirvana fan. Unfortunately this piece of shit was one of the most unplayable guitars I have ever owned to date and it sounded like complete ass. I don't know what I...
I see this section of the forum is pretty dead these days but since I solved this issue I thought I would post a follow up to help anyone out who may come across this. It turns out that the imported Wav forms were greyed out because they weren't part of any group. I've never seen this happen...
We tracked some drums at a big studio here in town on a Pro Tools HD Setup. I quantized the drums on my Pt Le 8 setup (Digi 002) without any issues. I started importing some keyboard samples from another session and the Waveform Blocks in the Edit view are almost completely blacked out. I've...
As everyone has stated, you won't learn this technique in a few days. If you do, you probably aren't doing it right or it will be sloppy as hell. I've been playing almost 16 years now and even though I am confident at sweep picking there are still patterns that I run across that trip me up...
Is all your gear powered from the same outlet? You could be getting noise from equipment being plugged into separate circuits in your room. Try putting all the main stuff on the same outlet and see if it goes away.
What kind of computer monitor are you using? Old CRT's can create noise with...
As stated above it is more the phase that you are hearing as opposed to a delay. You can get something very similar using a chorus maybe a flanger by turning the rate almost to 0 and playing with the depth knob. I had an old boss bf-2 (I think) Flanger that did something very close to this if...
It's Alternating current so you aren't always going to read 120v. It should be close to that but it is going to vary on the readings. What does this outlet do when you plug other things into it like say a tv or a lamp?
They have a small plugin tester that will tell you if it is properly wired...
Boss OC3 does both and also has a "dirty" setting which adds some gain. It works really well for bass or guitar. I have played a lot of octavers and besides my Z-vex Johnny Octave it is my favorite. Though the Zvex only does up 1 or 2 octaves up.
Sounded pretty good for most styles except the hard rock/metal. Which is odd because that is typically the type of sound I associate the Rectifier with.
I didn't listen but trust me....you will KNOW when it is time to upgrade. If you can't hear the difference then it isn't time. Remember, your mix/recording are only going to be as good as the weakest piece of gear in your chain. Unfortunately, a lot of the time as Homerecordist we have a hard...
It can go either way, I have heard and played with great guitarist that knew theory or some who only played by ear. I have also encountered guitarist who were horribly derivative and pretty much sucked from both sides of the fence as well.
Having said that, one of the most talented musicians I...
Why not spend the cash on some room treatments? Obviously, small and square isn't ideal but it sounds like you are going to continue to mix in there. So why not try and make it a little better? I am no expert but I bet room treatment will yield more noticeable results than changing monitors.
