    No kidding

Mine mostly stays on ..... I'll turn it off just to get a slightly lower level for certain clean rhythm things but otherwise it stays on

    How old is too old

I'm 72 .... still gigging 5 a week and playing the best I ever have. My songlist is around 650 ... never use lyric sheets and I can still learn lyrics to a new batch of songs in a day or two. Age isn't always a reduction in skillz if you don't get bored and quit working at it. However I...

As Good As A Neumann But Cheaper

I've gotten to where I can work with just about anything. I don't really believe in 'magic' equipment that makes you sound good .... guitars especially. I can get a good sound out of almost anything as long as it intonates and doesn't buzz. I have a buncha cheap condensers ....... never had...

How many electric guitars does one really need to (fairly authentically) "cover the bases" - soundwise only?

That ME-80 is a great multi fx ... I have a friend uses one into a Hot Rod deVille ..... sounds great. I have a buncha amps but my fave is basically a boutique Deluxe .... added a PPI master and you can turn the neg feedback off which makes it a little woolier .... and as a LSU fan I went for...

How many electric guitars does one really need to (fairly authentically) "cover the bases" - soundwise only?

well, I have 22 guitars ..... been playing for a living and recording for 60 years. I can do any gig with any of them ..... for recording it's rare that I go for a particular guitar to get a particular sound ..... I tend to use whatever's closest to me. I do tend to use my paul for certain...

    Hotel California bad edit?

splicing tape .... it was made specifically for that ..... and you would have a splicing block that held the tape in place to make it easier to get a straight or angled cut. I've never done more than 1/4" and that was fairly simple although once it's cut it's cut so don't mess up! and if you do...

Why Do Boutique Preamps Cost So Much?

lol .... :giggle: I get that actually but in music basically ANYthing one person likes is hated by many others. I do what I like without consideration for anyone else's opinion and everyone else should too unless you're making a commercial release in which case the court of public opinion is...

Why Do Boutique Preamps Cost So Much?

I've been doing this almost 60 years .... back in the day for the most part no one said 'I want a specific sound' so much as they used what they had and got the most out of it they could. I pretty much do the same these days ...... whatever sound I can get is what I work with ..... often it...

    Why do we come here?

TRACK RAT!!!! Lol .... 1999 for me too ....... have gone away because I tired of the politics but that seems to have died down. When it's about music/recording/gigging it's a great place

Anyone love the 70's and vinyl ?

I've got 6000+ LPs ..... 5 turntables so I guess I'm a vinyl guy ....... I'd say my favorite overall era would be the 70's but I pretty much like anything

    Overwound pickups & active pickups

it's not automatic that overwounds have enhanced tone ..... there are some that prefer the sound of lower output p'ups ..... personally I'm fairly indifferent but I have seen overwounds that were so hot you almost couldn't get a clean sound out of them. And as TalismanRich mentions, actives can...

    Tascam DP-O3SD SD Card

you stick the card into the recorder and it will prompt you to format it if needed I have several Tascam recorders and all of them do this ..... I haven't used a DP-03 but I feel pretty sure it will say ":Card needs formatting" or something similar and give you prompt to accomplish it

When and how did music get a hold of you.

was built into me ..... starting playing tunes on a neighbors piano when I was a toddler and playing my parents 78s and knowing and singing all the words to everything from Chuck Berry to South Pacific. Started on sax when I was 10 ... added guitar and bass within a year and then started...

Music I don't like, what don't you like??

I don't hate anything .... after 60 years of constant playing and gigging, music's music. it's all the same to me ..... I've played bassoon in symphony and twangy guitar in honky tonks and prog-rock and soul and classic rock .... you name it ...... I pretty much like it all when it comes to...
