I haven't been on here in quite a while and its with heavy heart that I am selling the rest of my gear. I went from being heavily into studio/live music around 2005 to realizing that I was better suited for another line of work. I now work in IT at a good company and don't see myself doing much...
Don't forget that when people get on hard times, gear is simply easy to liquidate. Give someone a deal and make some money. I have had to sell things a few times to pay the bills. Also there have just been a few times where I tried things and they didn't work for ME.
There are a lot of people...
Also you can find Wharfdales at www.8thstreet.com. They have awesome fast shipping and a great return policy. I ordered mine on a Tuesday night and had them on Friday. They are located in the Northeast.
I really like my Wharfdales. They have good a good balanced sound that translates really...
Hey. . . before taking it in to someone, get rid of those stock heads. Seriously! Also you mght undo the bottom and make sure it is seated properly.
Lastly, try a new head. I have gotten "dud" heads that no matter what i did to them, they just wouldn't resonate properly.
After trying all...
Just wanted to let everyone know that I am "in the stix" with limited internet access, but that all sold items have been shipped.
The 421's are still available, but I have had a number of inquiries, so they may be sold soon.

Hey check out the band at www.myspace.com/theindustry1. Its not my band BTW. I mixed the song up there, which is a scratch vocal and old guitar parts and stuff, which have all since been redone. Really the only things from that version that will be kept is the drums and bass. They have another...
*Update* Some things sold and 2 Sennheiser 421's added
All items are priced low, so shipping costs wil be paid by the buyer.
2 Sennheiser 421 U5's - $210 each
OK so after recalculating some finances I have decided to reluctantly sell my 421 U5's. They are in fairly beat up condition, but they...
I never found the Symetrix too bad. I had it set up so it went recorder outs -> comp -> mixing board so makeup gain was no problem. It just didn't do any better than my Symetrix 501, so I sold it. Sorry you didn't find it too useful. I bet it would do good on bass if you lower the threshold. I...
As far as the one DB loss goes, the RNC does have make up gain. So why not use it to make up that extra 1 DB. I am not familiar with The Brick, but does it have an insert? That would allow the signal to come out balanced.
Unbalanced out is not *that big a deal* in my opinion. I had it hooked...
I have a chance to pick one up cheap, but a couple things scare me.
-Ratio only goes to 1.4
-Level match? What is this, what they called Threshold then?
So does this thing do very much compression? I want to smash a snare or drum buss with it, but will it do it?
I am more inclined to go with...
Well the VLA is nice but loses high end when you do heavier compression. I think it sounds great on guitar and bass. Its only suitable on vocals most of the time. I have also used it as a buss compressor with good results, but I was very careful to have it only lightly, lightly compress. Maybe 1...
They are Klaus Heyne modified. That really can only be replicated by one man.
On gearslutz there is a pair of KM85i's which are very much like the KM84's. You could buy those and send them off to be modified, but you are likely looking at a couple grand $$$.
How about the Josephson c42's...
I had a Q10 and did some decent recordings with it, but I will say it made my mixing life a lot harder than it should have. It has muddy lows and cut off highs that make mixing multiple tracks pretty hard. I just got done mixing my last project that was tracked through it and I still wish I...
