Why are there so few posts in this category?

This Home Recording Logic forum doesn't get very active, so I look else where for Logic information. There's plenty of others sites for Logic information, like the apple site that has some quick responders. And there's a few logic certified training sites that get alot of action too. I use Home...

    Ideal basement for home studio?

I'm in the same boat as you Rat! My lady friend say's I'm crazy for basing the majority of my homebuying decision on whether or not I can play drums! I've been looking into Ranch style homes (I'm from Providence, RI; they're quite popular). Something with a finished basement that instead of a...

    Triggers and Steve Slate Drums

Thanks for the reply. Triggering and adding in samples all sounds perfect in my head, I was hoping someone was doing a similar recording method and would chime in saying "Yeah, your idea is great, right on!" I'm trying this method out because the last band I recorded wanted to do everything...

    Triggers and Steve Slate Drums

Hey Everyone, I'm going to lay out what I'd like to do and if someone could tell me if I'm on the right path that would be great! Using Logic Express 9, I want to trigger my drums, use the "Drum Replacement/Doubling" feature on the all the triggered tracks and import Steve Slate Drum samples...

Drum replacement does not create midi region

Nice, glad you made progress! It's a really awesome tool! In the future I want to get a drum plug in pack like this one to get more higher quality samples. I'm looking to get the best sound possible and if I have to use virtual instruments then that's what I gotta do.

Drum replacement does not create midi region

The track to be replaced/doubled is highlighted (aka selected), then "drum replacement/doubling" is clicked under the tracks tabs (working from memory as I'm away from my mac). This track is analyzed, which can take a few seconds-minutes depending on the length of the track. A dialog box...

Drum replacement does not create midi region

Try Adjusting the Threshold Level during Prelisten The drum replacement/doubling threshold needs to be set to a level that can read the notes you want (and not read the notes you don't). It's possible your threshold level is off. After the selected track is analyzed, select what drum sound you...

    Equipment for triggering drums

Good stuff Farview and everyone else who posted. In the future I'll be trying a combination of mic and trigger. It'll be another tool in my recording closet. Peace!

    Equipment for triggering drums

I've been interested in experimenting with triggers but I haven't looked into how I would get it done, this thread looks promising... I use Logic Express 9, like guitarplayr82 mentioned there's a nice plug-in called "Drum Replacement/Doubling" under "Track" settings. I've used it recently to...

Looking for a good microphone for a gift, but I know nothing.

Hi Paige! I own a AKG Preception 420 and me and everyone else that has heard the results are very impressed with it. I use it for vocals, acoustic instruments, and capturing a "room" sound. I get a lot of compliments when I break it out for recording. I'll be like "hold on guys, let me get my...

    In the beginning....

I hear you Grimtraveller! But if the person is passionate about what they are saying I'd give them a listen. To draw a line though, when my lady friend talks about US Weekly or Glee I tune it out... I just don't care and not sure if I ever will, ha!

    Mics for drums please help!

I've been satisfied with the Audix drum mic packs: DP7 FP7 The small diaphragm condenser mics in the DP7 kit were very clear and responsive to the high end cymbal shimmer. I like the sizes of all those mics. I can't speak to the FP7 sound quality but I'm a fan of Audix products.

which mic preamp do you guys recommend for recording vocals

I was looking for an answer like this. There was some discussion here but I didn't get the definitive answer I was looking for. Going Line-in made sense to me but I'm still learning. Thanks for the clarification.

    In the beginning....

I'll concur with the analytical listening skills, mostly because I've been lurking around these forums reading all I can handle and it always comes down to the listening. So I've been working on critically listening to all my favorite bands and some pop music, making note of what I hear. I try...

    Mic problem in Logic 9

If your output is Firewire 1814, you'll need your monitors/speakers connected to the 1814 to hear anything. Typically I have my output set to "Built In Output" and connect my monitors through a series of adapters into my 1/8" headphone input on my macbook. Definintely check if the track in...

    Interface Comparison

If the 1641 doesn't connect to the DAW right away, don't hesitate to call Tascam customer service. I tried figuring it out on my own and I just wasted time... I feel I have plenty of gain with the mic inputs and I've been happy with the clarity I've had. If anything I've been tracking too high...

    Interface Comparison

I have a 1641 and an M Audio fast track, but the fast track is the single input version for when I only need to record 1 instrument/vocal. Good for traveling light. I'll give me my impression fo 1641 since I have more experience with it. First off, I use a Macbook with Logic Express 9; I did...

    Tube preamp?

Preamping a preamp sounds like it'll totally make a difference in how "hot" and strong the signal received would be. The are 2 gain knobs to work with instead of 1. The only way around the extra gain (if say a 1/4" line-in was not available) would be to put the mic gain all the way down (or...

    Tube preamp?

I used the same ART preamp for recording vocals on an all out live take. The vocals sounded classic, a little less refined, less digital, but no noticable extra noise that off set the production. I did notice the vocals sounded "robotic" through headphones but that color wasn't present on...
