For some reason, I can 't get any signal through my digital output on my SBLive card. My setup is A Roland VS1680 to SBLive Drive. The digital in works fine, and the output has worked before. All I know is the sample rates are correct. Any ideas?
I have picked up on a professionally used technique with I think sounds really cool, and would fit the voice I am recording quite well (I think). Only problem is, I can't figure out how it is done exactly. Here;s what it is: (for the lead vocal track). It sounds like there is a track...
At the risk of sounding stupid, which is tighter supercardoid or hypercardoid?
Also, I read i a catologe that the SM Beta 57 has a bass roll off pad to eliminate the proximity effect. Is this true, or just a misprint? What is the difference between the 57 and beta 57?
I'm not new to recording...just always programed drums before. Anyway, I wanted to get some sugestions on which mic to use on what drum. Going for a heavy sounding kit. Here's what I got:
5 piece kit (Tama Rockstar)
(nothing fancy with cymba0ls)
1 At4033 consendor
1 Shure sm849 sm. diafram...
I have reacently been presented with an interesting theory...but first, let me tell you how I arrived at that theory. I had an Ibanez bass, which when playing the cable would occasionally become ungrounded, and all you could hear was that loud hum. THen it would return to normal. Tried...
I'm curious as to what a pixillator effects does? All I know is that it is an industrial type of effect which is found mostly on DOD guitar processors, and with the wall and boxes of effects and signal processors I have, I don't think I have one.
I'm having trouble with limiting some vocals. The dynamics are very drastic, so I ran them through an Alesis 3630. I used some real harsh limiting settings cause that's really what it needs ( I think), but now it seems like the part that was limited is now quieter than the part unaffected. In...
Hi all. I need some advice on what to get and how to hook it up. Here's what I want to do: I'd like to be able to take drum sounds and program them on my computer. I would like to also be able to make corrections (for when I hit the note late or something) on my computer. Then I woul like...
Need help! I am trying to get rif of some stick clicks which occur between a transition from one part of a song to another. They were left in the recording by mistake. The clicks are on a stereo track containing all the instruments of the song bounced together, and were picked up by most of...
This is slightly off topic, but I have a question about PA wires. My band has a poweramp with bannana plugs/open wire outputs to the speakers, and the speakers have paralell 1/4" inputs. (don't ask me why the amp has bannan plugs, I didn't buy it). I want to know the bestr way to get a clean...
In my long and very frustrating search for a new bass, I've come accross a company called Esh, which is bases in Germany. Seems like they offer a decent bass with lots of custom options, and resonalbe prices. Has anyone ever played one or have any knowlege of them? I'm gonna have to take a 3...
I read in a book last night that if you have a mixer with an effects insert jack, you could use that in place of a direct outs. It said that you just stick the plug in half way, and it only send the audio without interfearing with the signal flow. Is this true? If it is, then there would be...
Is it track bouncing you are trying to do? For that, all you do is record 3 tracks, then "bounce" then record the 1st 3 onto track 4. Then you have 1, 2, and 3 free. You can do this multiple times, but you loose a bit of quality each time. I'd say you can fet 10 decent sounding tracks this way.
If I got a mixer for recording (such as Mackie 1604) could I use it for a PA mixer if I got a power amp with it (mainly for practice), or will it blow up?
Hmmm, this post looks farmiliar. OK, I'm gonna give someserious suggestions. I would get aportable DAT for sampling. Then I woulld make sure that you have the best editing and arranging software out there (don't have a specific suggestion on that one). Then how about either a drum machine...
Let's say I'm gonna get Event 20/20's in about a week. Then in about another 2 weeks I'll get a power amp. Can I just use the moniters unpowered for a couple of weeks without power if i keep them low? I would connect them to a VS1680, or I could use a reciever.
I got a new comp. and I'm having touble finding a freeware mp3 encoder. I can't transfer my old one for some reason. Anybody have any links??

I've been doing lots of research on CDRW's, and I've noticed that I really got to find a detailed list of specs before it says weather or not it is up to Red Book standards. All of them so far have been up to all standards. This leads me to believe that most if the CDRW's out now are up to Red...
