    sonar and acid

I'll try... I'll give it a shot this evening and let you know (unless someone else would like to step in who /has/ been doing this? -L

    Drive configuration question...

Oh yeah... You did ask about system tweaks...welllll let's see: 1) Audio drive is formated with 64k blocks. 2) DMA is enabled where available. 3) Drives are defragged weekly. 4) Virtual memory is on it's own drive away from anything SONAR related. Also use 392M RAM, so paging is seldom an...

    Drive configuration question...

Work's great! No, I'm not having any *problems* (sadly refreshing isn't it) I just want to know if I can do any thing to increase performance..welll...more. (Who wouldn't?) Yes I have them on the same drive, but in different directories..I know why they should be in defferent directories, but...

    Drive configuration question...

I think I have this right, but I've never gotten opinions from anyone, so I'm not sure if there is a better way to set up your drives for Cakewalk/SONAR. SONAR is installed on c:/, WaveData and PictureCache are on e:/ (nice fast drive)... Everything else in Global Options is pointing to c:/...

    sound fonts

Have you tried CD-Xtract? I use an application called CD-Xtract. It will convert many types of sample library into SoundFont format. You can check it out on http://cdxtract.amazingsound.com/ It's pretty decent. -L

    sonar and acid

well... M experience with ACID is really limited, but yes, you can build drum tracks in SONAR using one hit drum samples. It would be painless and simple. As far as a comparison against ACID's edit and mixing...I dunno...any else take this one? -L

    .Bun users Beware!

Wait... ...wait wait...back up. It sounds like you're trying to salvage data from a trashed .bun file. Is that what you're doing...How did it get mangled? -L

    sound fonts...

Gosh I dunno?!? I never tried to load them from cakewalk. I always loaded them from Audio HQ. HAH! Shows you how observant /I am/. I always loaded them in audio HQ before I even started using soundfonts in Cakewalk. I know how to use them in SONAR internally, but never tried in Pro audio...

    sound fonts...

Using soundfonts. In cakewalk, under Options --> Midi Devices You want to highlight "SBLive Midi synth" (you probably have two listed). then in cakewalk, select that output port on a midi chanel and set the bank and patch to match the bank where you loaded the soundfont. You should be all set...

    .Bun users Beware!

How did you segment the .bun file? What did you use to split the file? I'll try it and let you know what happens.

how does ram affect cakewalk's preformance?

More Ram In your case, where you only have 32 meg installed, adding 64 will be an improvement. Adding enough memory so that the operating system does not use "virtual" memory (the hard drive) will help a lot. If you're trying to record audio (to hard disk) and the system is running with virtual...

    First Impressions? Good, Bad, Ugly?

SONAR's been a blast and a breeze all in one for me, and I'm sure you're all tired of me yapping to that effect. How about you all? A few people have their systems installed. As you have more time to use it, what's the verdict? (Oh look! an open request for potentially slagging reviews...

    Soft Synth delete in Sonar

Livesynth.com You can try their website: http://www.livesynth.com And email support. It's a company of, like, two guys. You should get a response fairly soon. I found LiveSynth Pro to be very useful (I use soundfonts for effects) and since the upgrade is only $36 till april 15th, I...

Sonar's Input monitoring, nice in theory but...

What kind of audio hardware are you using? The latency issue should be addressed by using WDM drivers for your audio hardware... (I have not heard of anyone trying this solution yet, since WDM drivers are scarce) but if your audio card(s) have WDM drivers, use them to get rid of the latency...

    Loop libraries

Yup. Correct. No pitch change but tempo changes happen. (within reason). The doubling occurs when SONAR stretches the sample out or squashes it to fit within a given tempo. It isn't really apparent if the loop it made well/has been tweaked a bit. It's /not perfect/ in every case, but it...
