  • I've used Dimarzio Air in a hb30.
I also put a trapeze tail piece on it.
It is now a complete different beast.
    sorry for the long dela
I've done a couple things to the HB30. First I installed Dimarzio Air pick ups, the originals were low output and didn't have the output for rock. Depending on what you play you may not need them. Another thing I did was ditch the stop bar tailpiece and replaced it with a trapeze unit from Stew Mac. I also replaced the tuning keys with some Groover locking tuners. That will mellow it down a bunch.
Along with this I did my usual setup adjusting pickup heights, bridge, smoothed out the string slots in the nut. Adjusted truss to almost straight only a slight bow.
I play the Hb30 twice as much as I do my LP it is right up there with my favorite tele it's not twangy like the tele but it is a very useful instrument. Hope the helps.
    Randy
