Don't blame the mics. I have tried rather expensive mics and this same thing happens with me. I suggest you buy what is called a mic preamp.

I went to a battle of the bands here in CA on Saturday and the first prize winner won an Fostex MR-8. Which I found funny because that band is the only other persons I know (not including you guys) who own one.

The mr-8 is most definetley not for live mixing.

I am not in front of my machine right now but I believe it's Menu->Track->Move Track. Check out page 65 of your manual for moving track data.
