hey all, I have a hip hop radio show on a cooperatively-owned and -run, independant radio station. www.kootenaycoopradio.com <--- that's the link to the radio station. www.raffertyrecords.blogspot.com <--- that's where you can find episodes of my show if you're interested. I'm always looking...

    screws at the nut?

only once, I played a friend's electric and it had screws that held down the strings at the nut. It sorta locked the tuning in place, so you could really reef on the whammy bar. What're those screws called? Does anyone here have them/like them/not like them?

    what's Logic Pro 7 like?

is Logic Pro 7 the newest in the Logic line-up? does anyone use it? I've never seen it, but I have used GarageBand. how is Logic different from GarageBand? I've only really used Fruity Loops and GarageBand. They're both very click-and-drag, visually-oriented programs. Is logic (or other...

    turntable features

okay, let's say I was going to purchase a turntable from a secondhand store or pawn shop for under $100 Canadian. obviously I won't be getting one with the versatility and radness of a bonafide dj table. Real dj tables are much more like musical instruments than just an old clunker that plays...

    guitar > amp > mic > 4-track, or guitar > amp > 4-track?

(I'm new at this.) Let's say my studio environment is a guitar, amp, microphone, and 4-track. my first instinct is to plug my guitar into the amp, and send a cable from the OUT on the amp into the IN on the 4-track, so the signal passes through the proccessing of the amp. (rather than simply...

244 Portastudio ffwd works, but play not works

okay, anyone know a fancy trick or something to help me? y'see, it's the motor I guess... it's a ye olde Tascam 244 Portastudio. Fast forward works, but not play, but play does work when there's no tape in there, so I'm led to believe that the motor is pooped out, and doesn't have the torque to...
