Tal-Vocoder in Reaper: I am completely at a lost!

That's great to hear! Glad you're up and running and (probably) making all sorts of weird sounds by this point :D

Tal-Vocoder in Reaper: I am completely at a lost!

The carrier signal is what you'll actually hear out of the vocoder, so you'd use something like a synth or a guitar or something as the carrier. The modulator signal is what will give the vocal-like formants to the vocoder, so you'd most likely use your voice. Maybe start with ReaVocode...

Getting the most out of Toontrack EZDrummer 2

Just no to all of that. Dynamics are a thing. Loud, quiet, hard, soft. There's a whole universe of dynamics out there. Explore it!

Getting the most out of Toontrack EZDrummer 2

In SD 2 and 3, one of the biggest things that made it sound more realistic to me was to enable all of the bleed on all of the channels in the mixer tab. And I enable the bleed on all of the ambient mics (which is off by default for all but 1 or 2 pairs of room mics). You can always pick and...

    Advice on broadband absorber positioning

I don't have much input, I mainly wanted to commend you on the drawings...they're awesome :) I guess I'd probably start with your 'a' option and see how that goes. I know that "just try it" isn't an easy thing when "just trying it" involves punching several holes in your walls/ceilings. But I...

Where do you have your audio interface placed?

Mine is in a rack off to my right, but it's fully digitally controlled so I never have to actually touch it other than to turn it on and off. Gain, routing, linking inputs together for stereo, all that stuff is through TotalMix on my computer. When I was using desktop format interfaces, I...

Recommendations for digital interface instead of knobs?

I think this is a pretty good application for an inline gain booster, as mentioned above. That'll allow you to avoid operating at the top of your knob's gain range and stay out of that area that's super sensitive to adjustment. But you can always add a VST effect that has the ability to add...

    Video Pad and Reaper

Reaper handles video as well as audio, so you can do the whole process there. Load the video itself into Reaper, import your mixed audio track as well, mute the original audio track, and render the video.

Best mic for a Martin dread

My go-to for my D41 is usually a Shure SM81 if it's going to be competing with other stuff in a mix. For times where it's more the focus of a song, I'll use an AKG C414 XLS or two of them mid/side. They're such wonderful sounding guitars that you can hardly mic it wrong...other than picking...

    Bass & Treble In Windows

I really had to dig around to find it just now...they really tucked it away where few people would ever find it!

    Bass & Treble In Windows

The EQ is actually still there, WMP 12 just hid it pretty well. If you go to the Now Playing view, then right-click in the main window, then select Enhancements, then Graphic Equalizer, then it'll pop up in its own window.

    Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! I really dislike turkey meat, so the last couple of years I've smoked a capon instead. It's way better. A good bottle of Scotch whiskey, and a couple of friends are headed over as well. It'll be a nice day of feasting, conversation, and football.

    ADAT help!

Hey that's great to hear! So glad it's working smoothly!

    ADAT help!

It wouldn't be the Digiface that'd be sending the signal to the speakers directly, instead it'd be 2 of the analog outputs from any of the 4 ADA8000s plugged into it. Each of those units has 8 analog line outputs on the back of it, so he can choose any two of those outputs to dedicate as the...

    ADAT help!

Oof, I'd really really suggest ditching ASIO4ALL and just use RME's excellent drivers. Dedicate 2 outputs from one of your ADAs to feed your main speakers, assign the main outputs in TotalMix to match, and be done with the UMC404HD as well. That should greatly simplify setting everything up in...
