The problem seems to be with the SBLive! WDM drivers working with Samplitude. Creative has new drivers for the Live! at their site (or soundblaster.com) but they are also WDM and won't work with samplitude (not sure about Sequoia but probably) and they have no intentions of releasing anything...
XP vs Samplitude/SBLive...
Careful about upgrading to XP if you use Samplitude as your recording program with a SBLive card! Samplitude does not run with the WDM drivers for the soundcard and creatives new drivers are also WDM. Sek'd is working on a patch for v6 but I don't know about earlier...
How come when I right click on the effects window in the mixer I get an error that says Not Enough Memory? I can select effects for the Master but not for any tracks or Aux. New to Sonar as my Samplitude won't work with WDM drivers in XP.
I've got plenty of free RAM with the program running...

I set up to 768 for my partitioned D drive for recording an we'll see what happens. Don't mind this XP at all, seems to handle audio stuff well.
Samplitude doesn't like WDM drivers for SB Live though...hopefully Creative will come out with MME drivers(I'm turning blue)

Got WinXP running good and am wondering about virtual memory settings etc. for optimizing recording. Know how to set up 98/Me but not sure if needs to be done in XP.

Upgraded and works great. Much more stable and all programs are working fine (Sonar,Sound Forge, Samplitude Acid and all effects).
