may I have a moment of pimpage for my new album?

Hey guys - I stopped coming here years ago - felt it was more important to work on writing and recording then getting the ol' GAS syndrome again - in the end I used my home studio to record multiple takes/demos, but ended up recording an album in another studio (albeit, a well designed and...

these are the guitars - what would you use for an amp

Gretsch black duo-jet - for all around Neil Young - alt-country roots rockish stuff. Rickenbacker 3xx 12 String ------------------ I know a lot of guys like 30 watts - any other ideas for a good hybrid amp -I may blend it with the sound of a clear 15 watt Fender Tweed in recording rb

    Acoustic Variax - (or equivlant)

has anyone played with the acoustic version of this thing? - I've been listening to the sample tones but you know how that goes - sometimes I'll be working on something and I'll want a banjo playing in the background, but rather then blow 300 on a banjo, maybe I could fake it and be on my way...

Hey guys - ruebarb here - been a while, but my band's doing an album - I just tossed out 5 tracks when I realized my damn snare mic was picking up too much hi-hat - forgot how much fucking fun this can be - (all I ever wanted was to be the musician - screw home recording) so here's the slight...

    first mp3 in 12 mos...for a tribute album - please evaulate

so here's the history - I'm a big fan of Bill Mallonee - and the Vigilantes of Love, and we on his fanlist are doing a fan tribute album... and this was my fav. song of his (a Jack Keourac tribute to desolation angels) - and I covered it in an stylin acoustic way, but I'm not sure it's good...

    Liam Gallagher's mic technique

you can get right on top of the 58A and not have too many problems - and like they say...in a live show, that's bigger then pops/hiss - I also noticed he sings upwards - I heard you get better projection that way - but who knows...the man didn't exactly go to the Roger Daltery school of...

need to come up with a songwriting rig at home

nope.....seeking the opposite - a small almost Portastudio solution - PC requires moving too much stuff unless I did a laptop, and I think I'd pass on that. RB

need to come up with a songwriting rig at home

ok...here's the deal....I have a great Mackie studio - D8B -HDR24 - super stuff - I record my band and demos in it at my practice space. here's the problem - 20 miles away, closed some hrs...and too much shit to work for on the fly recording - I need something cheap and easy for the apartment...

took in to be repaired last week..(it died 2 mos. ago, but I didn't have the funds to repair out of warranty) replacement parts are scarce....even worse, it's the mainboard that died...it'll cost $500 bucks to fix... is it worth it, or should I just use a spare comp and some mastering software...
