    Minidisk vs iRiver

Wow, thanks for the reply "treymonfauntre" This forum seems sort of lame. Any suggestions from anyone for a more lively list to investigate with better interest and more active involvement? I really was hoping for better response since this should be a subject that is sort of immediate right...

    Minidisk vs iRiver

Hi all, I would liketo be able to make decent field recordings during band rehearsal. I would like to have something small, cheap, and accurate so I can record for myself to do practice and improvising at a later time. I would also like to be able to upload the data to my PC and burn CD's for...

    Recording Setup-Please Help

Yeah, seems like a cleaner chain to me. The Yamaha mixer could be used prior to the soundcard IN too if your soundcard does not have enough channels to cover your requirements. Otherwise, it seems to me the sound editing software would cover mixing chores and offer more options. I am just a...

    Recording Setup-Please Help

Not meaning to derail this thread but the recording chain confuses me: "Instrument->mic->Pre-Amp and Dynamic Effects->MAudio Delta 1010-> Computer IN->Computer OUT->Yamaha Mixer->Speaker Monitors" Why is the Yamaha mixer in the playback portion of the chain if you are intending to monitor the...

    WANTED: Portable Recording Recommendations

Hi AussieGal, You might consider what I am doing. I have a very limited budget and besides I want the opportunity to learn so that when I do have some real cash to spend I know what I want. So here is my live rig so far: Fostex MR-8 with extra CF cards for extended recording Behringer...

    Really cool studio headphones

There are some who claim the MDR-V6 is exactly the same (and $30 less) as the MDR 7506 excepting the labeling and lacking a gold plated connector. Anyone have comments on this? Rudy2

Bought some Behringer MS-16 monitors and need upgrade ideas

And as you migh guess, they are not all that red-hot. Not bad for the price, but definitely a step below the consumer-level Altec Lansing system that I use for casual listening on my PC. In all fairness the Altec system does have two tweeter elements and a heavy sub so it has a real advantage...

    MR-8 pedal, stop-start recording possible?

Yep, that is what I have learned from the reply posts to my original message. Sheeeitt! Why-oh-why doesn't someone sell a modern session recording device that does the rudimentary tasks of recording without the fancy schmancy stuff of a multitrack recorder? Doesn't anyone actually do live...

New thread for bargain CF cards

Okay, I have read the great thread for card compatibility for the MR-8 but it is getting soooo long. And since it has been going so long it has, by nature, become sort of out of date too. So my question is, where are good deals on MR-8 compatible CF cards right now? I found this one, is it...

    In the trenches recording woes

So, now I have a cheap but fancy scmancy MR-8 recorder and I am finding all about how well that works for live, in-the-field, recording. Did you know that after "punching in" with the foot pedal and then "punching out" you have to dash over to the MR-8 and mess with it before you can begin...

    MR-8 pedal, stop-start recording possible?

Hi T1ny, You mean after stopping (punching out) I have to dash over to the MR-8 and mess with it before I can begin recording again (punching in)??? This is not a good thing as far as I am concerned. What I would like is to have the hands-off ability to start and stop the recording process...

Converting MP3's to CD audio format?

I know this sounds a little backward, but is there an easy way to convert MP3's to the standard CD audio format so an older CD player can play them? Will Nero or AudioGrabber do this? Thanks. Rudy2

Anyone tried the Behringer MS16 monitors?

I know, I know, these speakers are not likely to be very outstanding but I need an inexpensive pair of powered speakers to drag around with my MR-8 for field recording. Since the speakers will be packed up and knocked around, I was wondering about the new Behringer MS16? They are bi-amplified...

    MR-8 pedal, stop-start recording possible?

Ah, so it sounds like it does exactly what I want to do, which is to simply start and stop recording. But it is more often used to start recording at a specific spot in an existing track, correct? What takes getting used to with it? Stomp once for go, stomp again for stop, right? Rudy2
