No, not Asus. I have a GATEWAY M520 with 2gb ram daisy-chained via firewire to a Glyph drive and then to a Motu828mkII.
Zero problems with it for 4+ years and stress-tested to 35 24bit/44.1k stereo tracks with 15%cpu useage.
I dont know if the current Gateways still have TI firewire chips built in, but you could do like I did and just drop by a Best Buy and open then Device manager control panel. If it says "IEEE 1394 Texas Instruments OHCI host compliant" thats what you're looking for.....
