Actually, that is a synth being played during that part. I'm interested in having a single note sung by a person held that long. The effect I'm looking for is used in Massive Attack's "Butterfly Caught" if anyone is familiar with that. Thanks for the responses, everyone.
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows the technique involved in taking a a vocal part and extending it so that it appears the vocalist is holding a single note forever. Is it done with a very short crossfade or by other means?
I messed around with a vocal part by cutting a section out of...
What do you mean by "masterunit?" You can access the mixer channel strip for the mains in the main mixer window. The master effects rack and master setup windows can be found in the Devices menu, I believe.
I posted a rough diagram of my room with dimensions on the other thread:

I used 2" OC 703 panels (2 x 4 feet). The southeast corner has two panels at a right angle to accommodate the door (this is shown in the Realtraps demo video). The...
The point is, I have read all Ethan's articles and have already added fiberglass panels around the room, and I'm still noticing this effect quite obviously. :(
The bass response from my monitors (Tapco S8's) is MUCH louder when I move away from the center of the room where the mixing position is. This means that when I have the volume cranked until the bass sounds decent while I'm sitting in my chair, my neighbors are being blasted with huge...
Tonio- I'm using a R0DE NT1-A condenser mic. I probably won't be able to relocate the desk onto the short wall. But out of curiosity, why is that better? Would it be a problem or not to have the glass door directly behind the monitors?
Tex- Thanks a lot. Should I space them all as much as...
Oh, another quick question (probably for Ethan):
I am cutting spacers out of cardboard tube for the panels that are flat on the walls. I was doing 1" spacers. Would 2" be better? What size would maximize the low frequency absorption? Again, the panels are 2" 703. Thanks!
Tonio,
How'd you change the high abosrbers to mids? And short wall do you mean? One side has the sliding glass door and the other side has the hallway to the closets and the bathroom so I can't block it. I have rearranged things slightly since I posted the original graphic, but the studio...
Ethan,
The mic was in the same position for both tests (within a few inches since I had to move it out of the room while we set up the panels.) There's not much I can do about the mic itself, no more money for another mic at this point.
From my first impression, the bass actually sounded...
