    Tablet for Live Work?

I've got a Kindle... first generation when it first came out... and I honestly don't think it would be useful for gigs in the dark. You would need a light of some kind, not to mention... how do you mount it on a mic stand? Turning pages / finding songs would be a pain, as well as formatting...

Best virtual drummer w. individual tracks for each piece oif ki?

Drums on Demand offers loops with what they call 'multi-track' drums. I have these, and they sound great. Some of them have some bleed, but it still sounds good. Acoustic Drum Loops and Drum Tracks | Drums On Demand

new here, so post of YYZ cover

Great job! I was really impressed! The recording sounded good! The snare may be a little too 'compressed'... let it air out a little. Very nice!

Please critique my drum sound and mix.

I think it sounds great. I'm not crazy about the kick... I want to hear something a little more 'special'... or with more presence... but it sounds good to go.

    Tablet for Live Work?

I've been looking at tablets for a reason hardly anybody else does... to use it for lyrics during live work. Got the idea when I saw the keyboardist from Dream Theater using a tablet as a sheet music reader during gigs.. he would turn the pages with some pedals. I think his version was over...

Best Place To Print Business Cards For Band?

I also use VISTAPRINT. I recommend it. Make sure that the print is big enough to read... the last two that I did were hard to read when I got the final. They were my mistakes.

Fender Stage 112 SE Guitar Combo

I would buy a modeler of some kind. You can find them for $90... like the Digitech jobs, or maybe a used Pod... there are many out there. You will get more tones with a modeler than with that one amp. The amp will probably only be good for a certain type of sound, and the modeler will be more...

    Joeym's new CD "Angels fall"

I can totally respect what you're saying. The idea I had (which is probably not original) was to present new music for FREE, with the artist collecting money from ads that people click on in the page. Or maybe that we require them to watch a 30 second commercial before downloading each song...

    Joeym's new CD "Angels fall"

Joeym: I am very impressed with your work. Great vocals, and the production is solid. I tried to find out more about you, but couldn't locate more of a bio. I've never heard of bandcamp, although it's kind of like something I had in mind. Question... why didn't you signify a certain $...

    Drum Program

Check out PC DRUMMER. I download the trial, and played with it last night. I think the full program is like $50. Very easy to use. Not quite what I was looking for, but you may like it.

    Preamp noise

I had the same problem and played with the XLR cables, the mike position, and the preamp until I figured out it was another piece of gear creating the noise. I was recording vocals, and I had a Digitech BP200 plugged into the power strip (but not in use at the time, and no bass plugged in to...

    What am I doing wrong

I was having room trouble (the vocals were coming out too muddy, and with a reverb-like sound) until I bought the $50 Aural Xpanders kit.. from AURALEX.. and started using them on my microphone. Made all the difference in the world to me. I use one behind the mike, and one below (touching the...

Who's your favorite engineer? Producer? Mastering Engineer?

I've bought albums by MUTT LANGE simply because he produced it. His work spans different genres... and I've bought it all because of him. Everything from Billy Ocean, to Bryan Adams, Shania, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Cityboy, Romeo's Daughter, Nickleback. Even when he just wrote a song on the...

Post: #1Re-engineering Another Brick in the Wall Part II

I think it was pretty good. Yeah, the vocals have a tad too much echo... but they sound pretty faithful. A little more "oomph" in the vocal... a little more feeling and attitude... not too much... on the choruses... would help. The solo was pretty good, very faithful... although towards the...

not sure what to do (flaky band members)

I feel your pain. Get the bassist to record the bass parts for your songs on your recording software DAW, then make WAVE files of his performances onto CD. If you have a reliable CD player (or Minidisc), I guarantee you he'll be there every time for future gigs! :D
