Hi mate i came across your post about converting standard tape speed to high speed on tascam porta studios. I have a problem where i need to do the opposite and have a motor that runs at standard tape speed. I used to have a tascam porta 01 but purchased a porta 07 which only runs at high speed. I opened up the unit to see if there was an internal control pitch which there is but it is for the pitch control on the deck and does not slow it down enough for acceptable play back. I purchased a mabuchi single speed motor but realised on receiving it, it runs at 2400 rpm and only has a + - points on it meaning pitch control would not be possible. Is there a way to make the tascam 07 1600/3200 rpm motor run at 1600rpm? would i need to use a 12v to 6v resistor, i'm not that clued up on electronics but thought of a way of maybe lowering the voltage would cause the motor to run at half the speed.
