  • lastingimage, I'm brand new to this site and I noticed that you've been doing a lot of what I need to do and am hoping you can give me your opinions. I need to record my violin teacher playing both solo and with a piano accompaniment. I'm planning on using my Audio-Technica 4073, placing it above, in front and a little to the side of the violinist for the violin solo parts, and using the same mic a little further away from the violinist when the piano is accompanying. The violinist will be a few feet in front of the grand piano. This is on a stage in a local, very modern church with good accoustics. I'm thinking of using only the one mic because of phasing concerns. I also have two Sony ECM-44 laveliers, two countryman laveliers for wireless, a Shure SM58 and a Studio Projects C1 which I use for voice-overs. Anyway, if you could give me your opinion about my planned mic and musician placement and mic selection I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
