Okay I got my M-Audio Keystation 49 keyboard interface working. I have it connected through a USB cable to the computer. I'm using Sonar X1 and have a Scarlett 8i18 Audio interface. I record a synth track let's say a drum track. Then I add another synth track let's say a piano. When I play the...
I was wondering what a good keyboard interface would be for a beginner. Keep in mind I am NOT a keyboard player. I am a guitarist and just need it to add "synth" instruments to the mix. There is a huge range in price. I don't really know much about this subject.
Thanks Pat
Using Sonar X1. How do I change the drive I'm recording on? I'm assuming I go into preferences>File>Folder Locations. Change (Project files) from "C:\Cakewalk Projects" to E:\? Is that correct?
Alot of talk about using an external drive to record on, rather than C:/ I was wondering. Can you use a flash drive? seems it would be more reliable since there are no moving parts
I like the default drums that came with my Sonar X1 but I am getting bored with the 5 piece set. I was wondering what good inexpensive VST drum plug in to get to expand to more pieces
Thanks Pat
Using Sonar X1, is there a way of undoing the track automation once it's been used? I'm afraid to use it sometimes, because once I do, I can't undo it if I change my mind. Seems like there should be a way. But I can't find it.

I'm looking for a new interface that has at least 4 inputs. I like what I see on the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 Audio Interface on Guitar Center's website. I like the fact that it has 4 inputs with preamps right on the front panel, at least that's what it looks like in the photo. Before I make a...
I'm still kind of starting out. I was wondering what kind of preamp would be a good buy for a beginner on a budget? Is there a good pre out there that can really make a big improvement on my sound without costing a bundle?
I'm looking at getting reference monitors for my small studio (8'X10' bed room) I'm looking at the JBL LSR 2325P and Mackie MR5mk2. I was wondering if any one has had either or both of these and their opinion on them.
Thanks Pat
I had several ideas about a vocal booth. From building one in the closet to making sound absorbing panels to place around me. However after reading questions and comments on this forum, I realized that others have already tried my ideas and they didn't work all that well. I also received a lot...
I'm new to home recording and have a small spare bedroom for a studio. I am looking for reference monitors and could use some advise. What would be a good monitor for a small room and a small budget. These monitors will have to be place very close to the wall. Thanks in advance Pat
