i have purchased on ebay several ampex 456 1/2 inch tapes on metal reels . upon trying to record i find out that they are all sticky !! and the otari mx-5050mk3-4 just stops moving at about 1/4 of the way in . can sticky tapes be cured and used again ? if so ! what is the cure ?

I have an otari mx5050 mk3-4 and experiencing the following problem . I have used this machine and recorded material and played back recordings but I have not used it for some time and I just decided to use it again . I try to record on it and everything seems ok ! ...
