I believe they are 4 ohm, just like the RA-100. I connected my CD player into the input jacks of the amp just to test everything. Has anyone ever delt with the people at Tannoy? They are not under warrinty so I am screwed becuase I need them.

Besides mics, compression and mic pre's, what other outboard gear is essiental to record a good drum sound? Will I be needing gates, ect..? [This message has been edited by copper96 (edited 01-27-2000).]

Are all 1/4" cables capable of carring a balanced signal, or are the TSR the only types? The reason I ask this is becuase if I use a non-balanced cable for patching and stuff, that would inset some line noise and such, correct?

I am looking to get a lower budget preamp for one of my mics and two came across my path. Those were the Joe Meek VC3 and Art Tube MP. Out of those two, which one would anyone recomend getting?

I use Ernie Ball's regular slinkys. I have always just loved to sound out of them. I do use Elixers on my acoustic though. Those are some beautiful strings, but cost a bundle.

I also built my rack. I made it to sit on top of a desk that was 48" x 30". It splits into two racks with a divider down the middle. It holds 12 things on each side. I made it for a $40 and one sunday of time. Well worth it. I would definately suggest buying some rails and building one...

Try a search on the BBS. I found some interesting things by doing that. But the thing that has helped me the most is to play with the the compressoe and see how each knob on the affects the sound. It also can give you a good feel of your compressor. Try compressing the hell out of something...

Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying a blackfaced ADAT a few weeks ago and think I got a pretty good deal on it. I paid $500 for it. It had 484 hours on the head and version 4.03 software. It has worked wonderful so far. And it is somewhat of a "historic" piece. The man who I bought it...

I'm on a limited budget and am looking for a good set of mics that would double as drum overheads and a vocal mic. Is the Rhode NT-1 good for this?
