    Anyone using the Presonus Firestudio/Digimax?

I'm thinking of trading in my Delta1010 & Apogee Mini-me for a Presonus Firestudio & Digimax. This would up my inputs to 16 (with the option to go to 24) and allow me to go firewire into a laptop. I have some live recording gigs coming up & this would allow me to leave my mixer & computer at...

    mic cable splitters

2 bands 3 piece/3 vox 1 band 4 piece/3 vox I'm going to split the 3 vocal mics, kick & snare, DI the bass, mic the guitar amps, and put up a drum oh mic.

    mic cable splitters

Well, I spoke with the house engineer last night. His direct outs are post fader-no good. But my mixer can send 2 direct outs: one from the direct out & one from the insert. I checked it out & both can be sent pre fader simultaneously. So what I can do, if he agrees, is send the balanced...

    mic cable splitters

I'm going to meet with the house engineer this week & find out exactly what he's using & what my options are. I would only take a direct feed from him if it's pre eq & fx. I may just put my own mics up for guitar amps, etc.

    mic cable splitters

I'm recording a band live at a club & want to split the vocal mics to send to both myself & the sound man.

    mic cable splitters

Has anyone used any of these? I need to get a few & am curious whether there's a difference between the Rolls & the Art. I would think the Radial is much better than both, but I'm on a budget.

Stereo pair for live club recording

I would prefer some sm81's too, problem is I don't have any. I'm not real crazy about using the 603's for this, either. The Behringers are flatter, but omni. Maybe I could rent something, but there's not that many local studios here to rent from. I am bringing a small Soundcraft mixer for...

Stereo pair for live club recording

I'm going to record 3 bands live at a local club, putting up a stereo pair in the room & getting feeds from the instruments & vocal mics. For the stereo pair I have a few options: Behringer ECM8000 MXL 603 SP B3 + AT4033 in M/S I prefer to put them in ORTF (instead of spaced pair) since we...

    m/s and double m/s tutorial??someone help?

My name doesn't begin with 'big', but I figure I can post anyways. What bigwillz forgot to tell you is that once you record these 2 tracks, duplicate the figure 8 track & switch the polarity of the duplicate 180 deg. Then mix in the cardioid track to taste.

    Kayne West

I didn't really care for the mix on this one either-very lo fi. Music is great though.

Getting a live vibe for a studio album - how to best use the mics we have

Looks like you got a bunch of live vocal mics, but are short on instrument mics. I'd use the expensive mic as the drum overhead & spend some time with placement so you get a good overall picture of the kit. Then try your other mics on kick & snare & see which sounds best. Use whats left for...

Those Expensive Plug-ins Really Worth the Price?

UAD-1 plugs have been worth every penny. Much, much better than the Sonic Foundry plugs I was using before. I'd buy a 2nd one if I had the cash.

    Banjo Mic

I got decent results using a ev 635a once.

    Mono output, vegas

Set up 'Bus A' to go to outputs 1 & 2 on your soundcard, send track 1 to bus A panned hard left & track 2 to bus A panned hard right. This should do it.
