    Live band drum mic'ing

Xstatic is right on the money. I seem to have no problem with the live drums, if the monitors are sensibly arranged, or headphones are used. It is the vocal mics that are pointed at the drums that give me the most grief in the mix.

    Guitar Amp Mic Options

I've done a lot of live sound, and a lot of recording of guitar cabs. To me, it depends on the room, and the sound the artist is striving for. If you are using a Marshall SS, and are looking to get a Peavey XXX, I'm guessing that your using a fair amount of lead and crunch in you playing...

    I need Pre's!!

Do you need 24ch,16ch,8ch, or 2ch of pre? Are you trying to track each performer at seperate times? What is you mic collection looking like? Are you looking at 24 performers? Sounds like a fun project gone horribly wrong for "political reasons"!

    HD24 Drive suggestions?

I'll let everyone know how it turns out. I am still looking for suggestions on which drives are best for these machines... We are a small label that likes the live side of music, so this is important to us to have a reliable rig to use. I personally love the studio, but you know how that goes...

    HD24 Drive suggestions?

I was at the studio today, both drives work fine. We are working on a solution for isolating the HD24 for live recording. Thanks for the info!! I love the concept of these machines!, just need to work out the kinks!

    HD24 Drive suggestions?

Western Digital WD800jb 80 Gig ????rpm This drive came with the HD, and sort of worked. Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 300 Gig 7200 rpm Has problems mounting, and running. Yes it was at a loud club(http://www.ottosdekalb.com/artist.html), about 110db. I was also filming with an XL1 and it was...

Whose gear do you AVOID like the plauge?

Berry, anything non-amr peavey (I have the vc/l2 and vmp/2 and the vmp1 and use them daily), over priced avalon crap, noisy vintage gear, mackie( all sound the same) samson, nady, drum mic pack's, marshall mic's... I could go on but.....

    Tascam M600 Console

console has some issues! the solo buss work's, but when you release the channel from solo, it take's about 4 or 5 seconds to come back to the stereo buss. I think it is a cap(the only cap) in the solo sense circuit, but I am no electronics genius. I was also looking to do some upgrades to 8...

    HD24 Drive suggestions?

Having problems with my HD24 while recording live. I keep getting the buffer overrun error. I used the 80gig drive that Alesis sent with it, and a barracuda 300gig, both with issues, although the 80gig was better. Do you need to run smaller drive's while recording more than 16 or 18 track's...

    Hd24/24xr

No control over the ethernet that I am aware of. Only very slow transfers. From the sound of it, your way better off using the $300 on the firewire adapter than upgrading to the XR. I have had issues with the drive's not keeping up while doing live recording's of more than 18 tracks though, so...

    Kick Drum Speaker???

I just ordered a series of speakers for this to test my theroies! I ordered 3",4",5",6",8",10",12",15",and 18" drivers and will be experimenting with them when they arrive in about a week! I will post updates with results. I did like the idea of using them on bass as a natrual compressor...

    one distressor, kick or snare?

My tip would be to always avoid any processing prior to recording the signal. Once the raw signal has been recorded, you can, in your case due to lack of additional outboard gear, send the recorded kick through the Diss. and back to another track to record. Then during the mixdown, you can use...

    Mackie UltraMix to HD24

All right, this may be confusing to some because I am not a midi guy, so my wording may be completely wrong, but I have a problem with midi in my studio and was hoping I would get some help here? I have a couple of means to automate my studio but haven't gotten to them because of this midi wall...
