    Zoom R4 a few questions

Hi. Picked up one of these as well last week. It is a simple, fun little device. Not an expert by any means but, the rhythm track is a separate track and does not take up one of the four recording tracks. When you listen to your completed project, the assigned rhythm track will play. As...

Condenser Mic and Audio Interface for $120? Is it possible?

Craigslist can be your friend. Got my first interface used for $35 from CL and picked up an inexpensive Behringer condendser from eBay. Less than $100 for both.

So which instrument do you record first?

For me, I create a simple drum loop to serve as a metronome then add guitar and bass. At this point, depending on the complexity of the song, I'll program a complete drum track to distinguish the different sections or parts of the song or, I might add the lead vocal and then tweek the drum...

Which DAW do you guys use?

Mixcraft 5 and considering the upgrade to Mixcraft 6. IMO.....I found it to be the easiest to use and the price is VERY budget friendly. They also have an excellent forum and the online tech support is great! They have boat loads of "how-to" instructional videos on YouTube too.

    mixcraft 6

Well, I can't speak specifically about Version 6 but, I'm using Version 5 (still considering the upgrade) and I absolutely love it for the exact reasons you've stated. You can be up and recording in no time at all without having to be a wiz.

Whats a great DAW software for recording?

sc..... What version of Mixcraft are you using? I use Mixcraft 5 and learned a lot from their YouTube instructional videos and they're support forum has always been pretty good. I also printed the Mixcraft manual in color and took it to my local Kinko's to be bound. Anyway, it's your choice...

    Fretless Bass Question #2

I have a Squire VM Fretless Jazz bass with a lined fretboard. The lines represent the frets and are fingered accordingly.

    Where's The Ovation Love

Love my Ovation Celebrity. I bought it about six weeks ago because I wanted something "convenient" that I could leave out on a guitar stand and not worry about. A beater if you will. It's a mid-depth bowl with some decent punch, it's built like a tank, and in all honesty, the Ruby Red color...

My first recording with Mixcraft 5

My first completed (I think) recoding using Mixcraft 5. I'm playing all parts...guitar, bass, harmonica and vocals and I programmed the drum track as well. Curious to see what you think? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/53882105/MP3's/Out%20on%20the%20weekend.mp3

    Recording and Playing Instrumental Simultaneously

I use Mixcraft 5. In that, when you arm A track, you also need to select the incoming audio.

Night of the Living USB Hubs

Not sure if it's right or wrong but, I can be pretty sure of not introducing any unwanted or unexpected line noise if the devices are separated on different busses.
