    modelling preamps

I purchased the MMP-2 on a whim a few weeks ago because a) it got good reviews and b) it was dirt cheap, down from $600. I can't say enough how pleased I am with this unit. Forget about the modelling, it is a very good mic pre...crisp, clear, and full. I don't, and never did, care for "mic...

    Behringer products !!!!!!

I own the MX2004A and a Mackie 1202. I've done A/B comparisons and found that the MX is a bit "dirtier" than the Mackie. But you know what? I kind of like that dirtiness. It reminded me of an old school, dusty, warm mixer. I really like some of the mixes I got off of it. Matter of fact...

    dbx 286/A

Anyone here use or know anyone who uses this (dbx 286A)? I'm looking to grab a Focusrite Voicemaster, but rumours are flying around my job about it closing down. So if I gotta cut back on price, I'm looking for opinions on this and the Tube Pac. Hopefully I'll grab it before D-day, but if...

    sampler drum kits

Who gives a rat's behind, Wally? All the hundreds of people looking for good drum sounds! S4S is all over the place peddling his wares, but...his sounds are killer. And that's just the demo disks. Once I can fit them into my budget, he's definitely getting patronized by me. See, the thing...

    788, D12, or BR8

That's news to me about the D12 and mp3 capability, but...the 788 does do audio CDs. I own a 788, and can't say enough, not good, but great things about it. For one, the sound quality is top notch, and the editing and ease of use are outstanding. They both offer 24bit recording, but the D12...

    What monitors do you use?

Alesis Monitor Ones. They have never steered me wrong. After having them for years (got them a short while after they came out), I'm totally comfortable with them. And Sonusman was on point. I listen to everything on my monitors, and always have. To add to that "listening in the store"...

What do you mix to most of the time?

Part of it is that you're getting hearing more of the hiss because you're recording to a medium that has a fairly wide dynamic range. I've never had any problems with hiss recording to CD when I used my 9 year old Tascam 4 track (I've got a 788 now). Is the noise reduction on the 488 on? Are...

    MPC 2000XL vs Korg Trinton

They are totally different pieces of gear, so you can't really compare them. If you can afford one piece, though, I'd get the Triton. The sampler is very good, and has better features and flexibility than the MPC. The MPCs sampler is mainly for drums. The Triton sequencer is good, but not as...

    Mpc Vs Mp-7

First off, it only has the MoPhatt sound set, not the P2K, they just mean it has the same engine (all emu modules just about do). Second, the Flash expansions are fo adding new sound sets (that emu sells or ones you create using an Ultra sampler), e.g. Protozoa. This thing is not competition...

Hmmmm..... now I need a mic

I record R&B and Hip Hop primarily, and I use the Rode NT1. It has a smooth high end, but it is a very warm ("tubey") sound. I feel like it gets the job done quite well. It's under 200 balls. You just gotta get a good preamp, tube or otherwise, unless you have a fairly decent mixer. I also...

    a good production studo ????

Jaybird, Totally agree. And if you really like how the MPC sounds, buy the S2000 (they're extrememly cheap now) to go with it, because that's where the MPCs engine comes from. And, it's a waaay better sampler, overall.

    a good production studo ????

Taz, People's complaint about the MPC sampler is that it is not as fully featured as a rackmount like the S2000 or ESI2000 at the least. And therin lies the problem/misconception. If you read the box, or, hell, the MPC itself, and it says "drum sampler". Don't know what people think this is...

    Rode Mic Offer

Has anyone seen this deal where they're comparing the NT1000 and NTV to Neumanns? If you don't think your Rode sounds better than the two Neumanns listed, they'll credit the list price to your purchase of said Neumann. For more info go to: www.rodemicrophones.com

    a good production studo ????

Apparently, BIG GUY, you don't understand what he's looking for or what I'm saying. You're so far into your own world that you're not listening to what anyone is saying. For the final time (I'm through with you, though it has been fun, let's do it again on another topic). He wants a setup to...
