I personally like the i5 a lot better on guitar, and a tad better on snare. Haven't directly compared the two with too much else as I don't use 57's anymore now that I have 2 i5's.
Maybe try disabling uncessesary things on the computer to troubleshoot. Is there wireless internet on that thing at all? It seems like maybe this is mac problem, but I'm only going off posts I've seen. I have a PC and mine doesn't make any noise except an extremely tiny amount when I use phantom...
They do this so that the signal through the XLR is more discrete I believe. The 1/4" is mainly for monitoring purposes in my case, or I guess you could use it as you have explained, but I would rather have my signal not go through the buffer.
The EHX pre, definately needs to be used with...
It does suck that the firewire option is about half the price of the mixer itself, when you know they can't be that much to make... but it still seems like a pretty good deal. i wonder how the a/d conversion is.
I had the same problem, and I have a delta 1010lt, so I pretty much have to use it on one of the first two inputs which are XLR, not really that much of a problem, but it was disheartening to hear that hum at 100hz when I first got the pre, and it's a minor inconvience to not be able to use it...
Has anyone ever tried to do this? Is it supposed to work in theory?
I only have one PCI slot with the delta 1010lt, so this would be a good option for 4 more tracks.
I use Tracktion 1, into a shuttle xpc that I built myself.
Maybe it's Tracktion, I'm pretty sure I was able to get more on N-track on my older computer, but I'm not positive and I like Tracktion a lot better.
I have a 7,200 rpm firewire drive, but it only allows for about 20 tracks or so, I would like at least 24. My internal drives get about the same, but I don't feel like swapping them out. I'd rather just get a fast external for tracking.
I'm thinking there is something besides the rpms that will...
I went through this same thing about a week ago. I was choosing between a CAD m179, AT4040, SE2200a, and M-audio Solaris.
I ended up getting the SE2200a and I'm very happy with it so far. I think I may get the CAD or Solaris soon because I want to play around more with different patterns.
I'm...
What would be the specs for the fastest external harddrive I could get. I want it to be able to handle as many tracks as possible. I've heard 16mb cache, and I know it needs to be at least 7,200rpm or whatever.
Thanks, I only know a little about this stuff.
yes, it's analog to digital. All sound you record with a mic will start analog and you need it to be digital to be read by a computer. The mackie just takes the mic signal, makes it digital and then sends it to the digi02 by ADAT most likely, which in turn sends it to your computer to be...
It depends, if recording a metal band live I would rather have more cheap mics. If I was recording a bluegrass band live I would rather have one sweet mic.
I bought two of these about two years ago maybe a little more when I was trying to start out my rig. I still use them, they aren't all that great but I would say they are good for the price. You can get them pretty darn cheap on ebay. Most stuff I record I'm not exactly looking for a super...
