When ever I hit one my my electronic drum heads it makes a weird noise after the sound has passed. Its an electronic-y sound thats static mixed with a screeching-ish noise. should i be concerned or is it normal for drums?

I'd sure say it's not normal. How are you generating Audio. Drum software, sound module, Need more info.

What power adapter are you using? Are you running on batteries? The power source might not be supplying enough power, resulting in that weird sound you were describing.

What make/module e-drums are you using?

Is the sound coming from your drum module or through a mixing board?

Is it possible you are triggering some other MIDI device and that is the sound you are hearing? Or, are you triggering more than one sound in your module?

If not - then I agree the power source would be the next logical consideration

im using the module that came with the drums. its a yamaha dtx550k
i am using the adpator that came with it.

Loose cabling between the trigger and module perhaps? Does it happen across all pads?

The temptation to weigh in with a joke here is almost overwhelming. But I shall resist.

Well then that sounds like your headphones aren't liking the low frequencies those particular drums put out.
