Problem with WDM drivers for Delta

M-Audio Delta WDM 31 Beta Posted

Hello All,

We just posted a beta driver that alleviates the issue that Benjamin covered on his website. With Ben's help, we were able to reduce the delay offset down to several samples. Benjamin has already verified this.

Subsequently, Slackmaster has also been contacted directly about this updated driver.

Thank you Ben and Slackmaster for bringing this to our attention.

A word about the beta driver just posted. This driver incorporates updates to the WDM structure for an issue not related to this forum, subsequenty, this fix introduced additional latency that does not help Sonar users. This is made very clear in the read me document that accompanies the driver. Sonar users who require ultra-low latency should continue to use the 5.10.00.0027 WDM driver until a final candidate of the .0031 WDM driver can be released. The text readme included with the driver has been updated from yesterday to include an itemized disceration with what should be known about this driver.

We also introduced an update that allows for users of the Delta 44 card who want to sync the card with another Delta card without SPDIF hardware lock when using an ASIO application. This is done using a double buffer scheme that unfortunately WDM does not support.

The driver can be obtained at:

For the users on this forum and other forums that want M-Audio to produce better, faster, low latency drivers, please test with this driver and send your results and suggests to testing@m-audio.com. We welcome your input.

We are working on a revised version that will reduce WDM latency to ultra low levels, but we felt is was best to release the driver now as a Beta instead of hanging on to it.

In the future, we will be posting and corresponding on this website and other websites with similar forum issues.

Thank you.

M-Audio Statement

Hello,

M-Audio is aware of the postings in various forums about our products and the performance issues being discussed.
We are working to improve our web presence with website and regular forum updates. We like to test out the problems that we see by our own find or those that are brought our attention and incorporate those test results into new drivers. In an effor to support our customers, those test results will be published on our website in the form of FAQ and How-To guides, just as many other sites do. The flow of this information will increase over the next few weeks.

We would like to let all forum users know that we are open to suggestions and issues being discussed that want M-Audio to produce better, faster, low latency and feature laden drivers.

Please test with our beta and current driver postings and send your results, system configurations and suggestions to testing@m-audio.com. We welcome your input in an effort to bring about new driver revision developments.

Thank you.

if you are a SONAR user don't update to those newer drivers i had them and witnessed more dropouts then a bad urban high school

I for one am very pleased to see this kind of direct response from M-audio. Just think how much ill-feeling and bad press this company could have been spared if this approach had been taken earlier.

Well, M Audio´s posting really clarified some stuff .....Now I don´t feel as left out on a limb as a couple of days ago because you know that costumer-tech support is very important for us all. It is really cool that they pretend to have an open line between us users and them, developers-manufacturers. Let´s just hope that this is more than words and let´s give them enough feedback, ideas and comments to keep them busy pushing to get to a higher level. It is in everybody´s interest.
