I'm getting a ticking sound, as if a small motor were running while recording. I isolated everything else on my video rig and then tried just holding the recorder and I still hear it! but it comes and goes when holding it in different positions! Would there be any known reason for such a noise? ..could it be the units drive motor?

If the rest of the video gear is well away from it, do you happen to have a cell phone (pinging a tower?) or other electronics on your person (just guessing). There is no 'drive motor' in that Zoom recorder.

Does this occur if you reduce input levels to zero while recording?

You hit the nail on the head Mark, I never considered another device causing it! It's coming from my Desktop PC ..I should have noticed it got much louder when USB downloading files! ..Second time you have solved my problem! Thanks Again!

Thank You Spantini! It did reduce when I turned it down, but the cause was my PC being too close!

Yeah.. My first thoughts were about feedback hum from guitars coming and going with repositioning, but I thought I ought to rule out external sources first.

Great it's solved, thanks to Mark.
