I am either missing it completely or perhaps at the wrong forum, but is there a section in this forum that actually discusses the operation of the Tascam DP-008EX or not?

There is no forum that actually discusses the operation of the Tascam DP-008EX. Nor is there any specific forum on the Tascam DP-008EX, itself. Just a Tascam forum. Or you can ask in the Newbs section.
