Hi, I want to take my 388 in to a qualified technician this summer to get it recalibrated and to have a new bulb/capstan belt put in. I live in the Chicagoland area, does anyone go to anyone that works with analog recorders that they would reccomend that's in Illinois or close to Chicago? Lemme know, I've seen the Tascam list but I'd rather go with a knowledgable reccomendation. Thanks!
 
Go to Tascam.com. Click The support menu option toward the top. Click service search then then on the next page either enter your city or zip. When I did the search for Chicago I got a nice sized listing so you may be in Luck. We only have a few here in TN. Good Luck
 
There's a member here called "Herm". He hangs out in the analog forum mostly.

He recently got a TASCAM 388 serviced successfully in the chicago area.

Perhaps you could PM him and ask him the name of the shop?

He doesn't hang out in this wing of the bbs too much so try and PM him.
